Why York homeowners choose us

Built properly, from the ground up

The part of a driveway you never see is the part that decides how long it lasts.

Proper groundwork

We dig out to a suitable depth for the surface and use, then lay and compact a sub-base in layers — the foundation for paving that stays level.

Drainage planned in

Much of York sits on heavy Vale of York clay that holds water. We plan falls, channel drains, soakaways or permeable surfaces so water goes where it should.

Paving + fencing together

Driveway, path, patio, fence and gate designed as one, in materials that match — no mismatched contractors.

Clear written quotes

An itemised quote that explains what’s included, the materials we’ll use and how long the job should take.

Straight-talking advice

We’ll tell you if a cheaper option will do the job, and whether you might need council permission for kerbs or boundaries.

Respect for your home

Sites kept safe and tidy during the job, with waste removed and everything swept and cleaned at the end.

FAQs

Questions we’re often asked

Do you offer free quotes in York?

Yes. We visit, measure up and give you a written, itemised quote free of charge and with no obligation.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover the whole City of York area, including Haxby, Huntington, Acomb, Fulford, Bishopthorpe, Heslington, Osbaldwick, Strensall, Poppleton, Dunnington and Copmanthorpe, plus nearby towns including Selby, Tadcaster, Pocklington, Malton, Wetherby and Harrogate. See our areas we cover page.

Do I need planning permission for a new front driveway?

In England, if a new or replacement front driveway is over 5 square metres, it generally needs to be permeable (or drain onto a lawn or border within your property) to avoid needing planning permission. We design to these rules. A new or widened dropped kerb needs approval from City of York Council.

Can you do the fencing and paving as one job?

Yes — that’s exactly what we’re set up for. Combining a driveway, path, patio, fence or gate into one project usually saves time and gives a far more consistent finish.

How long does a new driveway take?

It depends on size, surface and groundwork, so we’ll give you an estimated timescale in your quote. Weather can affect paving and resin work, and we’ll always keep you updated.

Do I need a dropped kerb for a new driveway?

Usually, yes, if you are creating a new access or making an existing one wider. In York you apply to City of York Council before any work on the pavement. Our dropped kerbs and driveway widening page explains how it works.
